1. Low-Resolution Images
The single most frequent problem: placing 72 dpi screen images into print layouts. Digital print requires a minimum of 300 dpi at final print size. Scaling a 300 dpi image up to 200% effectively halves its resolution to 150 dpi, which produces visible pixelation. Always start with the highest resolution source file available and check actual pixel dimensions in your layout application before submitting.
2. Incorrect Color Mode (RGB Instead of CMYK)
Images captured on cameras and created in web design tools are in RGB mode. Digital presses print in CMYK. If you submit an RGB file, the RIP (raster image processor) will convert it automatically — but not necessarily the way you envisioned.
