A full-service print shop in the heart of Manhattan
VSL Print — formerly Varick Street Litho — is a family-owned print shop founded in 2009 and based at 239 West 29th Street in Midtown. Every stage of production happens in-house: offset, digital, large format, finishing, and bindery. Keeping the whole workflow under one roof means we control quality at each step and move jobs from file to finished product without shipping work out and waiting on third parties — a big part of how we hit rush deadlines. That control extends across the full menu of printing services in NYC we offer, from prepress through bindery.
The work runs the full range, from a small batch of luxe business cards to a storefront window install or a multi-thousand-piece direct mail drop. We have produced print for brands including Porsche, Belvedere Vodka, Touchland, Gucci, and Meta's Ray-Ban line, along with genuine Broadway and theater printing for productions across the city. The shop was also featured on CNBC's The Profit with Marcus Lemonis. Whether you are an agency, a startup, a retailer, or a production company, the goal is the same: clean color, accurate trims, and a finished piece that matches what you approved.

Complete In-House Production
Our Midtown Manhattan facility houses complete production capabilities in-house. Digital presses, offset equipment, large format printers, and a full bindery — everything under one roof for quality control and fast turnaround.
We print on a wide range of stocks, from lightweight text weights for flyers and booklets to heavy 16 pt and 18 pt cover stocks for business cards and invitations, plus uncoated, gloss, matte, and specialty papers. Finishing options include soft-touch and UV coatings, foil stamping, embossing, spot UV, scoring, die cutting, and saddle-stitch, perfect, and wire-O binding. Color is calibrated to G7 standards so your brand stays consistent from the first proof to every reprint.
- Digital presses for short runs
- Offset presses for high-volume projects
- Wide-format printers for large-format work
- Complete bindery and finishing department
- In-house design and prepress team
Choosing the right method for your job
Matching the project to the right press keeps quality high and cost sensible. Here is how the main production paths compare, and what to expect on turnaround.
Digital
No plate setup, so it is ideal for short runs, fast reprints, and variable data like personalized mailers. Best value up to a few hundred or low thousands of pieces.
Offset
Plate-and-ink presses deliver crisp solids, precise color, and the lowest per-piece cost on larger volumes. The right choice for high-quantity brochures, catalogs, and packaging.
Large Format
Wide-format latex and UV printing for posters, banners, window graphics, trade-show displays, and building-scale signage on vinyl, fabric, foam board, and rigid substrates.
Rush scheduling is available on most digital and large-format work — send print-ready files early in the day and we will confirm the fastest realistic completion time. For short runs on a tight clock, we usually route the job through digital printing in NYC rather than waiting on plates. For walk-in customers, our Midtown counter is open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 7 PM, for quotes, drop-offs, and press-side approvals.
We are at 239 West 29th Street, Ground Floor, New York, NY 10001, in Midtown Manhattan between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. The shop is a short walk from Penn Station and easy to reach via the 1, 2, 3, A, C, and E subway lines. Walk-in hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 7 PM.
Yes. Rush printing is available on most digital products — business cards, flyers, postcards, and posters — when files are print-ready. Larger or specialty jobs that need offset runs or hand finishing may require a longer schedule, which we will confirm when you send your files.
We deliver to all five NYC boroughs, with rush courier service available throughout Manhattan, and delivery reaches Long Island, Westchester, and northern New Jersey. You can also pick up from our 29th Street counter.
Yes. Our installation team handles window graphics, wall murals, building signage, trade-show displays, and vehicle wraps throughout the city, including coordinating site surveys and after-hours installs when a storefront or office cannot close during business hours.
A print-ready PDF/X is ideal. Build artwork in CMYK at 300 DPI for offset and digital work, include 0.125 in (1/8") bleed on all sides, and keep critical text at least 0.125 in inside the trim. For large format, supply files at 100 percent or at a clearly labeled scale. We review every file before printing and will flag low resolution, RGB color, or missing bleed before the job runs.
Digital printing has no plate setup, so it is fast and economical for short runs, variable data, and quick reprints. Offset uses printing plates and ink rollers, which delivers cleaner solids, tighter color control, and a lower per-piece cost once you reach a few thousand impressions. Because both presses are in-house, we match each job to the right method instead of forcing one workflow.
Yes. VSL Print is G7-calibrated, an objective color-management standard that keeps neutrals and gray balance consistent from proof to press and from one run to the next. It is why a reprint months later still matches your brand colors.
Absolutely. We provide PDF soft proofs for layout and content approval, and hard-copy or press proofs when exact color is critical. For walk-in customers, our Midtown location makes it easy to review a physical proof in person before committing to a full production run.
