Restaurant & Hospitality Printing NYC
Menus that sell. Service that delivers.
From fine dining to fast casual, we print the menus and materials NYC restaurants rely on. Rush turnaround when you need it.

Printing for the Pace of NYC Hospitality
A menu is the hardest-working piece of print in any restaurant. It is touched hundreds of times a day, exposed to grease, condensation, and wine, and it carries your pricing, your brand, and the items you most want guests to order. We treat it that way. VSL Print produces menus, table tents, signage, and guest collateral for fine dining rooms, fast-casual counters, cafes, bars, hotels, and event venues across Manhattan and the wider city — all printed and finished in-house so we control quality and timing from file to delivery.
Because we run offset, digital, and large-format presses under one roof, we can match the right process to each job. A short-run seasonal insert or a one-night event menu goes on the digital press for fast, economical turnaround and easy versioning. Many of our restaurant clients lean on the same digital printing services for weekly specials and price updates. A long-run brunch menu or a printed program for a hotel banquet runs offset, where larger sheets and precise ink control deliver consistent color and a lower per-piece cost at volume. Our G7 color calibration means the color you approve on a proof is the color that comes off the press — so your signature red, your logo navy, and your brand palette stay consistent across every reprint.

Choosing the Right Menu Stock
The right paper depends on how the menu is handled, how often it changes, and the feel you want in a guest's hands. Here is how the most common options compare for restaurant and hospitality work.
| Stock / Finish | Best For | Durability |
|---|---|---|
| 100 lb gloss text | Takeout, delivery, and direct-mail menus | Light — single-use friendly |
| 100 lb cover, uncoated | Fine-dining menus with a premium tactile feel | Moderate |
| 14 pt + gloss lamination | Everyday dine-in menus and table tents | High — wipeable |
| 10–14 mil synthetic | Outdoor dining, bars, and heavy handling | Very high — waterproof & tear-proof |
| Soft-touch laminate + spot UV | Upscale brand pieces and cocktail lists | High — premium presentation |
File Prep, Proofing & Turnaround
The fastest menu jobs start with a clean file. We prefer a print-ready PDF/X-1a with fonts embedded, images at 300 DPI, CMYK color, and 0.125 in of bleed on every edge, with critical text kept a quarter inch inside the trim. If you only have a Canva export, an InDesign package, or a Word document, send it anyway — our prepress team preflights every file, flags low-resolution photos or thin black rules, and corrects bleed and margins before anything reaches the press. For seasonal updates we keep your approved template on file, so a price change or a new special is often just a quick text edit and a fresh proof.
Every job goes out with a proof. A digital PDF proof confirms layout, copy, and trim; for color-critical pieces such as a branded cocktail program or a hotel banquet menu, we can provide a hard-copy proof on the actual stock so you see the finish before the full run. Once approved, most formats move quickly, and rush printing is available for in-stock menus and table tents — the difference between a torn menu at lunch and a fresh stack ready for dinner service. Finished work can be picked up at our West 29th Street shop or delivered across the five boroughs.
Beyond the dining room, we produce the full set of guest-facing collateral that keeps a hospitality operation running: comment cards, loyalty and gift cards on durable plastic or heavy stock, branded coasters and tent cards, window clings and A-frame inserts for sidewalk traffic, and large-format banners for openings, festivals, and outdoor seasons. For hotels and event venues, we handle room directories, in-room dining menus, key-card sleeves, wayfinding and conference signage, and welcome packets — coordinated so a multi-property or multi-location brand stays visually consistent from the lobby to the last table.

For high-handling dine-in menus, synthetic waterproof stock (10 mil or 14 mil) is the most durable option because it is tear-proof, wipeable, and immune to grease and water. If you prefer a paper feel, a 100 lb cover sheet with 5 mil or 10 mil gloss lamination is the next best choice. Lamination also stiffens the panel so single-sheet menus stay flat through a busy service.
Send a print-ready, high-resolution PDF/X-1a with all fonts embedded, images at 300 DPI, and CMYK color. Include 0.125 in (1/8 in) of bleed on every edge and keep important text at least 0.25 in inside the trim line. If you only have a Canva, InDesign, or Word file, send it over and our prepress team will preflight, fix bleed and resolution issues, and supply a proof before we run the job.
Yes. We routinely add scannable QR codes that link to online menus, ordering pages, reservation systems, or review pages. We test the code at the printed size, keep adequate quiet-zone margins, and recommend a minimum 0.75 in square at normal table-viewing distance so phones read it on the first scan.
Common dine-in formats are flat 8.5 x 11 in and 11 x 17 in, plus folded layouts like a tri-fold or bi-fold 11 x 17 in that opens to four or six panels. Takeout and delivery menus often run as a tri-fold 8.5 x 11 in or a half-fold rack-card size. Table tents are typically 4 x 6 in or 5 x 7 in tent-folded with a scored base so they stand without curling.
Yes. For upscale menus we run soft-touch (velvet) lamination, spot UV to highlight a logo or signature dish, foil stamping, blind embossing, and edge-to-edge full-bleed color on heavy uncoated or cotton stocks. These finishes pair well with concealed screw-post or Chicago-screw binding so pages can be swapped as the menu changes.
